Join us at the stunning Cambo House on the picturesque Cambo Estate for a captivating performance by the dynamic duo of violinist George Smith and cellist Duncan Strachan, one half of the acclaimed Maxwell Quartet.
Their latest project, ‘Cladach/Mullach’ (Shore/Summit), is an enchanting 50-minute soundscape inspired by an ancient folk tale that reveals the origins of music in the Western Isles of Scotland. Immerse yourself in a world where:
- A young man finds a magical stringed instrument on the shore,
- His mother makes a heart-wrenching sacrifice for his gift,
- And the music echoes the landscapes—both bleak and beautiful.
This mesmerizing piece blends traditional music forms with post-minimalist string textures, creating a reflection on heritage, storytelling, and the profound connection between music and the land.
