Taking place at the stunning Little Saint Mary's Parish Church in Cambridge, this concert features the talented choir DE PROFUNDIS performing two of Morales’ most exquisite Masses:
- Missa de Beata Virgine - A breathtaking piece for four voices, expanding to five in its final movement.
- Missa Tristezas me matan - A captivating work inspired by a beloved Spanish song.
But that’s not all! The program also includes the exhilarating Magnificat quarti toni, showcasing the rich textures and emotional depth of Morales' compositions.
This concert marks the fifth chapter of an ambitious twelve-year project by De Profundis to perform and record all of Morales’ Masses and Magnificats, under the expert direction of Robert Hollingworth and Eamonn Dougan.
Robert Hollingworth is the visionary founder-director of I Fagiolini, an acclaimed ensemble known for its innovative performances and a passion for vocal music through the ages. He also teaches at the University of York and co-hosts the engaging podcast Choral Chihuahua, where choral music comes alive!
